Night tobogganing on the floodlit runs in Ischgl
On two evenings each week night tobogganing is the most sought after activity in Ischgl of Austria. Families, couples and groups are having sleigh riding fun on one of the longest toboggan runs within the Alps.
Don’t worry - you do not have to walk to the starting point of the tobogganing trail. You can take the cable car, quickly and safely reaching the higher terminus. And whilst doing so you can take a first peak at the floodlit toboggan trail – this is when you realise that a long and action fuelled toboggan ride is only a couple of minutes away!
Once you have reached the top you can take refreshments and drinks at the Idalp restaurant. There is plenty of time to get a drink and some food. The atmosphere at the mountain restaurant is a real hit, especially the live music, though it is not as wild as in the clubs and bars down in the valley - plus many families also come for family tobogganing adventures and you need good reactions when going down the track on your toboggan.
Directly at the starting point of the floodlit trail your toboggan is waiting for you. Brace yourself for an un-compared toboggan ride down the mountain. Seven kilometres and almost 950 metres of altitude have to be overcome when riding down the track. How you conquer the track is entirely up to you, it’s always worth starting a small race to heighten the excitement.
The snow is stirred up in huge clouds when you enter the corners and serpentines. You will gain plenty of speed. The floodlights will provide good lighting and make things safer. Though bear in mind that a slower toboggan rider might be in front of you.
